Faces

I have been a photo-enthusiast for as long as I can remember. Photography makes me appreciate things and people around me. And for me, photography is my therapy.
Here are some of my favorites in Black and White.

Portraits

I'm not a professional photographer but I love photography. I like taking photos of everything from landscape to people to food to anything I see interesting. But most importantly I love taking photos of the people I love.
This is Maya with Laila. She is my always willing model who never fails to pose for me when she sees my camera out.
And this is Maya with her Mom - my Sister from another mother, Medy.
My Sweetest with his precious kids. This photo was taken on his birthday in 2012.
This is Steff, my beautiful step-daughter during her wedding in the Spring of 2013. I was even her make-up artist. I love this portrait because I can see in her smile how happy she was on that very special day.
I took this photo of my cousin Jay and nephew Miggy in the beach when I went for a short visit in the Philippines.
My cousin and the sister I never had, Joey. I took this photo in San Francisco when I visited her in California. It was our first get-together after more than 10 years since she left for the US.

This is my niece Erika. I took this photo while she was playing and taking a dip in the huge bucket in our yard in the Philippines when I went home for a short visit in 2012.
Erika again enjoying the beach.
This is a stolen shot of my brother Gary with his daughters, my beautiful nieces, Jade and Lara helping Daddy build a sand castle.
Another stolen shot of Gary with his son, my adorable nephew Toby. And yes, with Erika again posing for a photo opp for Uncle Japol.
This is my brother Japol. This photo was taken last winter of 2013 at the Portland Head Light in Cape Elizabeth. It was his very first trip to the US.
This is him too at the beach in Wells.
Then my Sweetest and I brought him to the Old Port. It was the second bonding time for them. The first one was in the Philippines.
And this is me taking photos which was taken by my brother Japol.

Sunlight in Acadia

“Humanity does not suffer from the disease of wrong beliefs but humanity suffers from the contagious nature of the lack of belief. If you have no magic with you it is not because magic does not exist but it is because you do not believe in it. Even if the sun shines brightly upon your skin every day, if you do not believe in the sunlight, the sunlight for you does not exist.” ― C. JoyBell C - Author

The Shadows

Shadows can mimic life.
It can take the shape of life.
It can assume the color of life.
But never takes over life.
It will forever play a supporting role in life.
Don't be afraid of shadow.
It's only a reminder that we are not alone.

Let there be Lights!

This Holiday Season, let be the light.
Let us be enlightened by the goodness we see in others or the beauty we see around us.
Let us remember always in our hearts that in darkness, one tiny single light makes a big difference to find the right path.

Let us be grateful to all the people who bring us light.

And most of all... be grateful to the very source of Light!
Have a blessed Holidays all!

A Prayer to the Typhoon Haiyan Victims and Suvivors

LORD...
Our hearts are weak. Give us your heart so we can keep on loving.
Our minds are tired. Give us your wisdom so we can keep on understanding.
Our souls are shattered. Give us your grace so we can keep the faith.

In this time of trials, let us see hope in frustrations.
In times of darkness, let us see light in the eyes of the people who care.
In moments of sadness, let us see joy in the hands of the strangers.

LORD... let us know in the deepest of our hearts that You are watching us. Let our beloved country and countrymen who are suffering right now due to natural calamities know that you are in control.

To all the Victims... send all your angels to gather them in your loving embrace.
To all the Survivors... send all your blessings so they may feel your presence.
And to all the People who are Helping them... give them the joy of sharing.

Amen!

Transformation

I believe technology brings out the best in almost everything. While photography, for me - is a personal expression of one's outlook in life and what surrounds it. And to be able to combine the two - transforms life into a more exciting level of appreciation for art.

This is my take on this month's challenge. I used technology to transform my raw photos to enhance and make them more exciting through layering of textures to achieve an entirely different image.
 Raw
Processed.
Original
 Transformed.
Boring
Exciting
Transformation is inevitable.
Everything change.
Nothing is permanent
If there is anything that is permanent... only change.
